What's going on with art theft

Fri Jul 8, 2016, 5:55 PM by Royouten:iconroyouten:
I've seen so many journals and posts on Instagram about art theft and it's really pissing me off. I understand how it feels since I've had my art stolen by 3 people and even one harassed me about it until their account was deleted back in 2015. This is completely not ok for people who have been working their butts off making art. Are people even trying to at least do something for themselves? Nevertheless steal from others. Artists would like credit for their artwork and at least some recognition so that others know who drew it. It's not fair that each time people submit something awesome, it just has to be taken away by others for views, followers and even profit!

I can not stress this telling someone to give credit to the artist and be butthurt about it. How about you pull your adult pants up and own up that you took something that isn't rightfully yours. Some people do not know this because they think that sharing pictures isn't counted for as theft but it is. It's a felony and a cyber crime. If artists wanted to, they could sue you. But many are too kind for that type of thing so at least have respect for them. We are all people too and we have feeling that pretain to what we draw, to make our fans happy and to contribute to what we love.

This week, a user named Mira (I'll use that name from her username), temporary or possibly deleted her Instagram account because of this user by the name of Mjiannie. Mjiannie has been stealing multiple pieces of artwork from various of users on her 4 accounts. She has been changing up her usernames so that Instagram can't find her when people report her and is doing this just to gain popularity. This is what happens when people take and post without credit or just take ownership of the art like what Mjiannie is doing now.

Let's please try to prevent any more case of this. It's multiplying by the second and isn't even helping out anyone with theft. I could suggest to anyone to copyright their work but the rates are too high for that and the sites we post them on do not protect them enough. One thing I know we can do is keep on raising awareness of these thieves and tell them that this type of malicious activity is wrong on so many levels.

Oh wow. This is probably one of the reasons why I hate Google Plus but I think they make it easier to report. It's just a prime example of what some people do once they steal art. Sorry that your character was taken though.

It's cool. Bout to have this lit up soon. I'm trying to get into contact with this kid before I report and share his activities in a journal. If he stops and removes my artwork, as well as everyone else's, that will be that. But if he gives me a problem, I'll report him and expose him in a journal. He'll receive enough reports to have his page shut down. I like to keep things civil, but I cannot account for what my watchers will do and say. I know this is a little kid doing this, but he's gotta learn sometime that you can not use other people's property without their permission, and claiming someone else's character as their own.

Well I hope they comply and understand what art theft is.

I finally got a reply from this lawyer character. But I really doubt it was a real lawyer since his grammar and punctuation was garbage. On the bright side, he is no longer using my character.

People honestly don't care about who they hurt until they're called out. The internet is the least safe place in the world. There's nothing you can do about it except report them and teach them that art theft hurts the artist, especially if they aren't credited.

I wonder what would happen with these art thieves if the artists they keep stealing from just stooped doing art at least for a while.

That way , they wouldn't have art to steal , people would start to get suspicious and they would be done for .

Even tho that's impossible since sometimes the artists need the income .
